How the Youth Are Affected by the Retreats

The young people who are present gather around Jesus for prayer and worship and experience His presence and love.

Those who are helping with the Prayer Festival lead the participants in song and prayer, there are readings from the Bible and explanations about how to pray as well as talks about the challenges we all have everyday. Jesus in the Eucharist is exposed for the entire weekend. The Eucharistic Prayer and Healing Service on Saturday night is the pinnacle of the weekend.

The weekend ends with an exuberant celebration of Sunday Mass followed by young people sharing with one another their experiences.

To mark Pope Benedict’s Year of Faith and our own 20th anniversary, YOUTH 2OOO New York brings you Face 2 Face. It’s the same Eucharistic youth event as always, only now with a “face lift”: a new look, a new sound, new team partners, new energy and a new optional one-day program in addition to our familiar weekend retreat – and you’re invited! Hoping to see you sometime soon… Face 2 Face.

The first event in New York was held at Our Lady of the Angels Parish in the Bronx. Since that time, YOUTH 2OOO NY has held monthly prayer festivals and has touched the lives of thousands of young people in the Metropolitan area. YOUTH 2OOO Prayer Festivals occur almost every week somewhere in the US. At present, YOUTH 2OOO is active in the US, England, Ireland, Germany, Australia, Panama, the West Indies, and hopes to expand into other countries in Europe and in Africa.

YOUTH 2OOO Prayer Festivals in the US, in New York in particular, have been led by The Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. This order of young priests and brothers has taken seriously the Gospel message to give all they have to the poor and to follow Christ. Their simple life style, love of Christ, and service to the poor present to the young people a powerful witness of Christ living in today’s world.

YOUTH 2OOO Was invited by the World Youth day committee to lead Eucharistic Adoration at the World Youth Days in Manila in 1995, Paris in 1997, Rome in 2000, and again in Toronto in 2002.

Youth2000NY is a monthly retreat held by the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal in various parishes in New York. It aims to draw the youth closer to our Lord.
